Fit for Function

The Cesky Terrier is described in the breed standard as 'a tough and agile working terrier'

Developed in post-war Czechoslovakia from an initial cross between Scottish and Sealyham terriers, the Cesky (Czech) Terrier was designed to fulfil three distinct functions.

Firstly, an all-purpose hunting dog - able to go to ground, to flush and retrieve small game and, primarily, to track both live and blood scent of wild boar or deer. Secondly, to be an easily prepared show dog, and finally to be a devoted and friendly family pet.

Whilst, for most people in the UK, hunting their Cesky Terrier is not possible, it is our aim to ensure that working ability is not lost, and that our dogs remain 'fit for function'.
